City Turkeys

Ever since I started taking photos several years ago, I have always dreamed of being in the open fields and finding wild turkeys fanning their tales at mating season. We have lots of turkeys in N.W. Wisconsin, but I have never been able to get close enough to shoot them with tails extended. A year ago, I was in the Twin Cities traveling down Central Avenue and there on a side road I saw turkeys. So, being curious,. I pulled over with camera in hand and began to shoot. The male turkey was busy strutting his stuff and simply ignored me as I shot him. For about 20 minutes he just paid attention to his harem and led them around from one place to another. Now every time I travel down Central Avenue I look for those turkeys. To be fair, someone told me that the turkeys in town get to be quite a nuisance, but that doesn't bother my camera at all. God sure made a beautiful bird, well worth photographing. Enjoy...
