Winter River Pictures

The Namekagon River is not far from here and there is a trail follows the river that is absolutely beautiful. I have walked the trail a few times and taken a few pictures. Because today was so nice, I decided to see how the trail was in the winter time. It was a quiet time of praying and taking pictures of the river and the trail. I even went off the trail and walked (carefully) down the hill to the river. I found a walking stick that helped this old man move along. I took over 100 pictures, but chose these 5 to post, after I adjusted them in Paint Shop Pro. Even in the winter time, the river is amazing. What a mighty God and Creator we have. I can take the pictures, But Gos is the real artist. The one I really like is the Black and White one of the woods. Which one do you like?

A few people have asked if any of my photos are for sale and how much they are, so I decided to take a step of faith and post a price list. You can request a copy of any of the photos you see on our blog pages or on facebook that I have posted. They will be printed on professional glossy photo paper, unless otherwise requested. Some have been interested in photo note cards using pictures I have taken this past year. That list is included below. With the photo note card, please let me know if you want a verse of scripture, a song title or any other words on the photo. Also let me know if you want them without words, so you can use them various occasions.

5 x 7 $3.00 each
8 X 10 $12.00 each (Printed on 8 1/2 X 11 " paper with 1/2 " border)

Because the "profits" from this will go for either the camp ministry or for more photo equipment, prices are negotiable. Our goal is to glorify Christ and to use this as a ministry for His glory.
If interested you can call me at 715-939-0601 or email me at fdistad@Gmail.com or use Face book to send me a message.

Above are some pictures I took earlier this week at "Wisconsin Point Lighthouse" near Superior, Wisconsin. They are taken from a little different point of view than the first lighthouse photos I posted. Enjoy

Barron Sunsets - Designed by God

Once in a great while God provides an opportunity to take a amazing photo. It isn't the photographer that is amazing, but God's creation. God can paint a picture that simply blows the mind. Last night I was in Barron, where we held our first Photo Genesis Club meeting at the church. I got there early, so I took some time to try to get a few pictures of the area. I was traveling west on a road that leads to Barron and the sun was setting. These are just a few of the pictures I took of the sunset, with a farm and a tree as background. To me the one with the tree is simply amazing and beautiful. Which one do you like and why?

Window Frost

It is always so amazing that something that seems quite ugly and dreaded can also be very beautiful, especially when looked at closely. This morning the temperature was 20 below zero - just plain cold. But that cold made our windows on the porch frost up. A friend of mine told me he had been taking macro pictures of frost, so I thought I would give it a try. What an amazing God we serve, who can take little things and make them so spectacular. Think of it - like snow flakes, no 2 frosts are the same. God had given than amazing shapes and designs. The first picture was taken from my car pointed toward my dirty mirror. I just like how it turned out - sort of mystical.

Earl Eagles - God's majestic creation!

A few days ago I was driving around and looking for places to take pictures. Three miles east of us the small town of Earl. I was traveling on a road that goes north when I came across a swampy area. There is one of the trees was a pair of eagles. I quietly got out of my car and approached them very carefully, taking pictures as I got near them. Then all of a sudden they started to take off. With camera in hand I continued to shoot. To me this is one of those shots where I just happened to be at the right place at the right time with camera in hand. I have been back to that spot almost every day since, but not with the same effect as the first day. Eagles are so majestic and beautiful. The verse that comes to mind is Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint"
Enjoy the photos and let me know what you think. I have been making note cards with some of my photos on them. My goal is to eventually sell some of them to help pay for photo equipment. If you are interested please let me know and I will work up a price list.

Winter's beauty

For a scenic photographer many times winter is looked on as "down time" until spring. Everything seems a little bland for taking pictures with all the white snow and little color. That is not always true, if you know where to look. Today I was out looking for places to take pictures and I decided to take some close up pictures of the trees with the freshly fallen snow. As you can see by the photos not everything is bland and colorless. There is still a lot of color and beauty with the winter snow. What an amazing God we have that brings us the beauty of winter!

What does a person do on New Year's Day when it is cold and windy outside and warm and toasty inside the house? I decided to upload a few pictures of winter scenes that I recently took. There is nothing exceptional about the pictures, except that they show some of the beauty of winter. There are 2 sets of each of the 3 pictures. One set is in full color and one set is in Black and White. Winter time lends itself to black and white photography because of the contrast the white snow has against background. I haven't taken a lot of pictures this winter and several of the ones I took I also deleted because they simply had little character to them. I am still looking for the ideal place to take photos in the winter where I can also take pictures of wildlife. If you know of such a place, please let me know. Meanwhile enjoy the pictures and enjoy the winter weather.
