Ice Follies 2016

This past week my back has been on vacation and giving me a lot of pain when I walk. Today I "thought" it would help to get out for a drive and get a little exercise. That did not help! Anyway I ended up on Barkers Island in Superior taking photos of the ice sculpture. One of our photo friends, Kirk, posted pictures yesterday and it gave me some inspiration. It is amazing what can develop with a little sprayed water and cold temperatures. Enjoy and let me know which one you like the best! Thanks... They kind of remind me of the ancient Roman palaces and architecture.

Barns Galore

One of the advantages of living in N.W. Wisconsin is the abundance of barns that are available to shoot. This time of year, with the snow and grey clouds, the red barns stand in contrast. Then when you add an animal, especially a horse, it really comes alive. The barns that really appeal to me are the ones on their last legs, falling apart or even just a skeleton of a barn. Sometime I would like to get permission from the farmer to shoot the barn from the inside with all of its character and the wonder of what is in that barn. Here are a few pictures that I took yesterday near Shell Lake. There are still a few hundred more barns to shoot!

Cold of Winter

Today was the coldest day of this winter so far. This morning it was 20 below zero and it rose to a great temperature of 1 above. For Northern Wisconsin this is nothing to be amazed at. We have seen it a whole lot colder and for a few weeks at a time. It was  a great day to go out an take a few photos. All of these photos were taken in the Hayward area. I love the contrast that the snow, ice and water give the photos. I did very little tweaking of the photos. The scenes are perfect just the way God made them. Enjoy them and give God the praise and glory!!!
