Boats and lights

This weekend was quite busy, with a trip to the Twin Cities and taking our grand daughter out to Culver's for her 5th birthday. Sunday was busy with Sunday School and Church at the Barron Church. So today I took the day off and decided to go to Superior to take a few photos, especially while the sun was shining and the wind was blowing. My first stop was Wisconsin Point and the old light house. With the frozen lake, blue sky and floating ice it was perfect for a few photos. Next leg of the journey was the Ice Sculpture near Barkers Island. That things just seems to grow and grow and become more interesting each time I see it. Down the road from the Ice Sculpture there are a lot of boats that are parked for the winter. What really appealed to me was taking shots of the helms in the sunlight. When I started to work with them in post production, I realized they needed very little touch up. WYSIWYG! Here are a few of the boat photos I took today. I will add the Lighthouse and the Ice Sculpture at a later date. Right now enjoy these from today! Thanks for stopping by and God Bless. My Favorite is the fifth one down.

Lift Bridge

One of the most fascinating places to visit in Duluth, even in the winter, is Leif Erickson Park. In the summer it is known for it's beautiful roses, but in the winter it is the place to go to get a photo of the lift bridge and Lake Superior. It is a little nerve ending being that close to the lake, because it sound like thunder from the ice cracking. At first I thought that someone must be out on the lake, but no one, but God was there. Maybe He was trying to get my attention, which He did! The ice formations on the lake were absolutely beautiful and amazing! Here are just a few of the photos I took today. I did modify a couple of them, but the rest is just what you see.

Frozen Falls

As I mentioned in yesterdays blog, I not only took photos at Split Rock Lighthouse, I also was at Gooseberry Falls. There is something amazing about waterfalls in the middle of winter when everything is froze over and just a part of the falls is actually flowing. Kind of like the kid's movie "Frozen". Here are a few of the photos from Gooseberry Falls. Enjoy and give God the glory!

Split Decision

You be the judge! Yesterday I decided to take the day off and head for the North Shore of Minnesota to take photos of Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock Lighthouse. I have been to Gooseberry Falls a couple of times, but not to Split Rock. It was a beautiful, but cloudy day. I really had to watch every step I took, because of walking on ice and rocks. Praise the Lord I didn't fall or slip. Split Rock was absolutely beautiful and awesome! Sometimes I wonder if traveling almost 100 miles one way is worth it. I will let you be the judge. Here are just a FEW of the 600 photos I took yesterday.
