Winter Wonderland!

If you are wondering where all the snow went to, take a trip to Pattison Park south of Superior. The farther I traveled north today the more snow there was on the ground. Then when I reached Pattison Park, I was blown away by the "Winter Wonderland". It was absolutely beautiful and it was just what I was looking for: Snow covered trees and paths, the waterfalls half frozen and yet still flowing and cloudy. The only downside was that I really had to watch and be careful where I walked. There was some slippery spots on the paths. For an old man, like me, that could be dangerous. But the Lord protected me as I walked and investigated. Was it worth the trip? YOU be the judge as you look at these photos I took today! My favorite is the first one. Which on do you like?

Any Questions???

One of the objectives of posting photos is to create photos that leave you asking questions. The other day I took a few more pictures of the Stanbury 1956 Buick Special. This time I tried to take shots of the side of the car and the inside. As I look at these photos there are a lot of questions that come to mind. Who owns this car? Is it for sale? How much? Who was the original owner and how long did he have it? I saw the quart of oil in the back seat and wondered if this was the last quart added before it gave up the ghost? How many miles were on it when it died? What questions come to your mind when you see these photos? Do they stir your imagination? That is the goal!!!

Walk in the woods

Lately I have realized that I needed to get some exercise, so today I tackled Trego's woods which run along the Namekagon River. I have taken this 2 mile trek many times, but I have never walked the last 2 miles of the path. Totally I walked almost 4 miles in the woods, up and down hills and along the river. Needless to say my legs are tired and so am I, but it was worth it. What a great place to walk and also talk with the Lord. I think I get more done this way that sitting down and studying. Of course I took my camera with me and took photos of the path and some red holly berries growing through the snow. Not a lot of wild life, but still a great walk. I would challenge you to take a walk in the woods this next week while the weather is still mild and the hunters are out of the woods.

Red Roses of Winter

Leif Erickson Park in Duluth is a great place to take photos of flowers and scenery. It is stationed right on Lake Superior and contains thousands of roses and other flowers. Today when I was there, most of the roses were covered with leaf bags that they had collected. There were still a few flowers that held their shape and color, even after frost and cold. It makes you wonder if they will still be there after the snow comes. That would make some beautiful contrast photos - red on white. The Lord made them to endure and hang in there.
